Far House was a DIY performance and events space in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a focus on subversive, experimental and outsider art & music. Over the course of its 8 year run, it hosted hundreds of local, national and international artists. ULTRA MEGA AWESOME EXTREME (2005-2017)
Event Producer
Ultra Mega Awesome Extreme was a semi-annual experimental music festival held at a variety of locations in Detroit, Michigan with 10-30 performances in one evening alongside art and video installations from a revolving cast of contributors.
UMAE was founded as a vehicle for a growing, yet underrepresented community of outsider musicians. In its 10 installments over the course of 12 years, it hosted well over 100 unique acts both local and national. With attendances in the triple digits, it had a dedicated cult following. Float Fest was a semi-annual all day outdoor guerilla music and activity festival held along the Huron River in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The event kicked off with a BMX bike jump into the river, followed by a build-it-yourself raft race which ended with an award ceremony and performances on a floating stage which the audience swam & floated around. In its five year run, this community-oriented event attracted a large, multigenerational crowd and featured a variety of local and national talent. ANN ARBOR FREE SKOOL (2010-2012)
Community Organizer
The Ann Arbor Free Skool was a non-hierarchical collective of volunteers working to create free, accessible and inclusive classes, workshops and skillshares in and around Ann Arbor, Michigan. The group provided a wide range of free and often hands-on classes with the end-goal being improved self-sustainability and creating alternatives to consumer capitalism. Highlights from its run included a number of all day DIY Fests, a week long guerilla festival called 'Seize the Week', a presentation at Ignite Ann Arbor and guest lectures from Food Not Bombs co-founder Keith McHenry as well as poet and activist John Sinclair. |
